At Ivy Leash Labradors, we want to reward good behavior. We created this unique program to encourage our puppy families to become masters of training as a way to optimize the relationship between you and your new family member.
At Ivy Leash Labradors we want to reward good behavior. We created this unique program to encourage our puppy families to become masters of training as a way to optimize the relationship between you and your new family member.
Along with health, intelligence, and beauty, temperament is one of the foundations of our program. Long before we pair two dogs we work diligently to ensure that we are producing puppies that typify the standard for temperament set forth by the American Kennel Club.
The AKC states that the Labrador temperament is as much of a hallmark of the breed as the otter tail. The ideal disposition of a Labrador is kind, eager to please, non-aggressive, gentle, intelligent, and adaptable (AKC Official Standard for the Labrador Retriever, 1994).
In addition to studying pedigrees, temperament testing, and proofing our dogs in training and in titling before they enter our program, we use the Early Neurological Stimulation method and the Puppy Culture Program with all of our puppies to nurture and to build upon the innate Labrador temperament.
Our time and effort are rewarded when our puppies become loved and cherished family members in their new homes.
At the heart of the Ivy Leash Master’s Program is our desire to reward our puppy families for enrolling in puppy obedience classes and pursuing AKC companion titles to build upon the foundation of our breeding program. Puppy obedience classes teach us to learn the unique language of our puppy so we can teach our puppy how they should behave in the human world. If you think about it puppies have to be bilingual. They need to understand dog language as well as people language. Puppy obedience classes teach us how to train our puppy to be a well-mannered puppy so they interact appropriately around other people and other dogs. A well-trained puppy becomes a well-behaved dog!
So what is the reward? Rewards for our dogs mean liver bites and dog cookies. We realize that liver and dog cookies may not appeal to most people so our reward is a cash incentive for our families that take advantage of this program. It’s simple, enroll your puppy in a puppy obedience class, complete the class, and then send us a copy of your puppy’s certificate of completion. Once we receive it we will send you an Ivy Leash Diploma and $50.00.
In addition to the reward for completing the puppy obedience class, we also offer an Ivy Leash Final Exam bonus. To earn the bonus simply find an evaluator click this link (https://webapps.akc.org/cgc-evaluator/#/).
